Got a letter that made you stare at the wall afterward?
Yeah. That one.
This space is for people on the outside who have received letters, messages, or had experiences with incarcerated individuals that were so unhinged, heartfelt, chaotic, confusing, or unexpectedly profound that you cannot keep them to yourself.
If you’ve ever thought:
- “There is no way this actually happened.”
- “I need someone else to read this.”
- “I cannot be the only person dealing with this.”
Congratulations. You’re in the right place!
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We want stories from people who have:
- Received wild, unhinged, or emotionally intense letters
- Been in relationships with incarcerated individuals
- Navigated prison pen-pal chaos
- Experienced breakups, manipulation, genuine connection, or all of the above
- Thought they were helping and ended up in a soap opera
- Been surprised by depth, humor, or absolute audacity
Funny. Messy. Complicated. Human.
This isn’t about mocking people (though we will probably laugh about it)
It is about telling the truth.
You can submit:
- The letter itself (typed or summarized)
- Your experience or reaction
- Screenshots or photos of handwritten letters (optional)
- Context you think matters
You may change names, locations, and identifying details.
In fact, we recommend it.
👉 Submit your letter anonymously using the form below. https://form.jotform.com/260374461767161
Some of the most unhinged prison stories don’t come from the inside.
They come from the people who opened the mail.
